IT Trends and Predictions

The rise of the Internet of Things

It is projected that by 2021, there will be more than 20 billion IoT devices. These devices can range from appliances to wearables and everything in-between. The internet of things has had a huge impact on our day-to-day lives as we rely heavily on these connected gadgets to complete tasks like managing our homes, controlling the traffic lights or even tracking our fitness goals. With all of this being said, it’s clear why the Internet of Things is becoming increasingly important for us today and tomorrow.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects that are connected to the internet and can be controlled remotely by a computer. The IoT is transforming how we live, work and play. It’s important to learn about this technology because it will have an impact on your life as well as the world around you.  IoT devices are being used in cars, homes, hospitals, schools and more- making everything from our clothes to our coffee machines smarter and more efficient than ever before. This blog post includes information on what the Internet of Things really is, why it was created in the first place and some examples of things that use IoT today – like smart thermostats or fitness trackers.

Machine learning and predictive analytics

You’ve likely heard about machine learning and predictive analytics in the news, but what are they? How do these technologies work? What can they be used for in your business? Read on to find out.

Predictive analytics is a set of tools that analyze data and produces predictions about future events. Predictive analytics helps identify patterns from past data so businesses can make better decisions. Machine learning uses algorithms to process information, learn from it, and improve performance over time. Machine learning has had many applications in recent years such as self-driving cars or Netflix movie recommendations.

Both predictive analytics and machine learning use advanced computer systems with complex algorithms to predict future outcomes based on past or current data sets. Together these two fields have been instrumental.

Technology has evolved to the point where it can now predict what you want before you even know it. Machine learning and predictive analytics have become hot topics in recent years. Predictive analytics is a type of machine learning that focuses on automating decision-making, prediction, forecasting and pattern recognition tasks through statistical methods.

The goal of predictive analytics is to identify patterns or trends in data so that decisions about future actions are made more accurately than without this information.

This blog post will explore how predictive analytics works and some examples of how businesses use this technology today to make better decisions for their company’s success as well as provide insight into the impact this can have on our daily lives.

Virtual reality and augmented reality

Virtual reality and augmented reality are terms that can be used interchangeably. As the name suggests, they both present a virtual environment for users to explore. The difference is in how the environment is created: VR uses goggles and other equipment that covers your view of the real world while AR projects computer-generated objects into your field of vision.

Virtual reality is a computer-generated simulation of an environment that can be interacted with in real time and it’s not just for video games. VR headsets are used to create immersive experiences, but they’re expensive and the technology isn’t widely available yet. Augmented reality overlays digital images on top of your view of the world as you look through your phone or tablet screen. It’s cheaper than VR, so AR devices like Facebook’s Oculus Go headset have already gone on sale. Like VR, AR is still evolving with new applications being developed for both platforms every day.

Cloud computing & distributed storage

Cloud computing has a lot of benefits and is now becoming more popular. It’s not just for tech giants any longer. The cloud can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, which makes it very convenient to use in the modern world. This blog post will discuss what distributed storage is and how it can help you with your business or personal life.

Cloud computing has revolutionized the way we store data. No longer do you need to be onsite with huge servers and racks of disks. You can now utilize resources from all around the world, which is not only more cost effective but also more environmentally friendly as well.

There are many different layers that make up cloud storage, each with their own advantages and disadvantages when compared to traditional methods. This post will explore some of those layers in an effort to help you better understand how they work together and what benefits they offer over other types of storage solutions.

Social media’s importance in the workplace

Social media has become an integral part of our everyday lives. Whether it’s checking your Facebook account and seeing what your friends are up to, or tweeting about how you’re feeling, social media is a large part of the way we communicate in the 21st century.

What many people don’t realize is that social media can also be used for more than just personal interactions – businesses use social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram to promote their products and services as well. However, not everyone understands this importance of using these sites at work; according to a new study from Hootsuite, 74% of workers have never been asked about their social media usage in the workplace by employers! This blog post explores why employers should care if employees are on social networks.

How important is social media to your company? It’s a question that not every employer has an answer for, but it’s one worth asking. Social media can be the best way to connect with potential and current customers, as well as with new hires. Learn more about how to use social media in the workplace by reading this blog post from Hootsuite!
